    NEPA SHRM Welcomes William Capece

Learn more about NEPA SHRM's new member, William Capece...

    What are your favorite hobbies?

    Investing/market research, home projects, gardening.

Why did you choose a career in Human Resources?

I often say the career chose me. Early in my career I spent five years at Vanguardbefore being terminated based on allegations that ultimately proved to beunfounded. I challenged the decision and prevailed through a three-year arbitrationprocess. This is public record.

During that time, I became deeply interested in understanding how HR systems, employment law, and workplace policies actually function. I earned my SHRM-CPdesignation so I could better understand the processes being used and the broaderHR landscape.

That experience ended up changing the direction of my career. I transitioned fromworking primarily as a Certified Financial Planner into advising companies onemployee benefits, HR strategy, and compliance. What began as a difficultprofessional moment ultimately led me to work that I find far more meaningful—helping employers build better systems for their employees and avoid the kinds ofissues that too often arise when HR processes break down and become corrupt.

What is your current job / career?

I’m the Director of Business Development for JS Benefits Group. I manage a team ofemployee benefits sales consultants. We offer employee benefits, HR consulting, etc.

What is your greatest personal accomplishment?

Convincing my wife to marry me has to be number one. She’s accomplished so muchin her own right- I married up. Find her on all social media @TheWellnessKitchenista
and her Emmy award winning show streaming on TUBI TV ‘Eat Your Way To Wellness’.

A very close second is becoming a foster parent. Over the past three years, my wife and I have welcomed seven children into our home. It’s been one of the mostmeaningful and humbling experiences of our lives, and it’s taught me a lot aboutpatience, responsibility, and the impact a stable home can have on a child during adifficult time.

Why did you choose to join NEPA SHRM?

My wife and I moved to Mountain Top, PA in April 2025. When it came time to renew,I prefer to support my local chapter.
