What are your favorite hobbies?

I love to cook, garden, and am a Private Pilot so love to fly any chance I get.

Why did you choose a career in Human Resources? 

I’ve just always loved helping people grow and develop and loved the idea of entrepreneurship and growing businesses. HR enables me to use all those passions and strengths.

What is your current job / career?

I am an HR consultant helping businesses all over our region Make Great Workplaces. I founded my business, Welch Performance Consulting, 10 years ago.

What is your greatest personal accomplishment?

That’s a hard one. Definitely raising 4 young men to be kind, inclusive, confident, citizens of their communities is at the top of the list; yet for me personally 2 things stand out – taking the risk to leave a stable, comfortable employer and start my business; and learning to fly airplanes achieving advanced certifications and endorsements because it was so foreign to me and I had to work really hard to learn totally new concepts. These last two accomplishments have given me so much personal freedom and confidence.

How long have you been a member of NEPA SHRM?

I’m not exactly sure but it’s been several years; joining once my family moved to the region.

Why did you chose to join NEPA SHRM?

SHRM is an amazing organization and NEPA SHRM brings all those national resources and connections to a local level. I find great value in the connections I’ve made in the chapter, and the professional development I’ve received.
