Workplace Advocacy Day

    March 20, 2019

The National Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) will be taking to Capitol Hill on March 20, 2019 for National Workplace Advocacy Day.  President and Chief Executive Officer Johnny C. Taylor, Jr., SHRM-SCP, and Emily M. Dickens, corporate secretary and chief of staff, will be available during a press briefing about public policy issues and their effects on employers and workers, including the First Step Act and addressing the skills gap by considering hiring candidates with criminal backgrounds. Those attending the 2019 Employment Law & Legislative Conference, March 17 – 20, 2019, will have an opportunity to visit lawmakers on Capitol Hill to talk about federal legislation to improve employers’ ability to offer education assistance to their employees.  In light of National Workplace Advocacy Day, consider writing your Senators and Representative to advocate and lend your voice on behalf of employment and workplace issues that are of importance to you.  If you aren’t sure who your legislators are, the PA General Assembly website can help.
