Our Committees

    Communications

    Under the direction of the Communications Chair, the committee is responsible for providing timely and comprehensive information to chapter members and external resources about programs, workshops, and other matters of interest via chapter publications.  Creates and maintains a favorable image of the chapter working for the professional development of its members by: (a) keeping membership informed of chapter projects, activities and upcoming meetings, and (b) disseminating relevant professional information viewed as beneficial to the members.  Leads the website and social media.  Participates in the development and implementation of short-term and long-term strategic planning for the chapter.  Represents the chapter in the human resources community.


    Finance

    Vice President of Finance
    Under the direction of the Vice President of Finance / Treasure, the Finance Committee acts as financial advisor to chapter board of directors.  The Vice President of Finance / Treasurer maintains the chapter mailbox and distributes mail to the appropriate officer, director, or chair.  Sends dues notices and other invoices to members.  Files appropriate forms and information with the IRS.  Receives, holds, and safeguards in the capacity of trustee and financial agent, all funds of the chapter.  Participates in the development and implementation of short-term and long-term strategic planning for the chapter.  Represents the chapter in the human resources community.


    Legislative

    Under the direction of the Legislative Chair, the committee monitors and evaluates on a continuing basis pending legislative, regulatory and legal action at the federal, state, and local level that may have an impact on the management of human resources.  Presents a legislative report or update to the chapter president and fellow chapter members.  Promotes increased knowledge and activities for influencing legislation.  Participates in the development and implementation of short-term and long-term strategic planning for the chapter.  Represents the chapter in the human resources community.


    Membership

    Vice President of Membership
    Under the direction of the Vice President of Membership, the Membership Committee is responsible for successfully achieving an increase in chapter membership while maintaining the chapter’s membership database.  Processes membership applications and maintains up to date contact information for members.  Participates in the development and implementation of short-term and long-term strategic planning for the chapter.  Represents the chapter in the human resources community.


    Professional Development / Programs

    Under the direction of the Professional Development Chair, the committee's primary focus is to provide a forum for networking and the opportunity to achieve SHRM Certification through offering recertification credits and scholarships. The committee serves to address the professional development needs of NEPA SHRM membership and the Human Resource Professionals of the NEPA region.  Participates in the development and implementation of short-term and long-term strategic planning for the chapter.  Represents the chapter in the human resources community.


    Governmental Affairs

    Past President

    Under the direction of the Secretary, the Governmental Affairs Committee is responsible for meeting agendas, minutes, notices of meetings, records of attendance, and general correspondence while maintaining chapter records and history.  The committee transmits all necessary annual election information to the membership and advises SHRM through the use of the Chapter Leader Information Form (CLIF). Keeps permanent record of bylaws and all dated and amended copies, a list of current officers and committee members, approved and signed minutes, and all legal documents such as IRS Letters of Determination and Articles of Incorporation.  Participates in the development and implementation of short-term and long-term strategic planning for the chapter.  Represents the chapter in the human resources community.


    Student Relations

    Under the director of the Student Relations chair, the committee's primary focus is to manage the scholarship program, internship program, and all college outreach efforts. The committee communicates with local faculty/colleges to provide classroom visits to discuss HR topics, the Chapter, internships/scholarships, SHRM membership, etc. Acts as a mentor to college students seeking a career in HR. Recommends community service projects to be supported by the Chapter. Participates in the development and implementation of short-term and long-term strategic planning for the chapter.  Represents the chapter in the human resources community.
